ANCA recently welcomed key government officials and customers to the opening of its new Technical Centre of Excellence in Shanghai, China. Pat Boland, joint Co-Founder said, “When Pat McCluskey and I founded ANCA over 40 years ago in 1974, we purchased a mini computer for $4,000. Our basic idea was to replace the hardwired controls of the time with a standard computer. Adding the computer to NC thus CNC, gave a much more powerful and flexible technology than the hardwired logic designs that were current at the time.”

“Pat McCluskey and I were both 25 years old when we started ANCA. I was an Electrical Engineer with a First degree from Melbourne University and Pat McCluskey was an award-winning technician trained in the state-of-the-art machine tools. We had a great blend of knowhow, from the academic to the practical.”

“In the early 1980s Pat McCluskey and I decided that the future of our company lay in exporting to the world. This was a huge step for us at the time but it propelled us on a decade of sustained growth. We are very proud today of customer list and market share in this important market.”

“More than anything else what has driven ANCA’s growth over the past 44 years have been a series of innovations that have revolutionized the production of cutting tools and have impacted the whole of manufacturing. Our first significant innovation was the measurement of tool geometry inside the grinding machine by use of a touch probe. This seems so basic today, it is hard to remember back to 1986 when ANCA was the first company to apply this technology.”

Jeff Foregard, General Manager Asia said, “From the onset, ANCA’s vision was to become the number one supplier of CNC tool and cutter grinders in the Chinese market.”

“The establishment of ANCA Machine Tools Shanghai in 2003 was a major milestone for the company, starting our operation from a small home office. Fast forward to 2018, and here we are standing outside the all-new ANCA Asia Headquarters and our third office. We now have close to 50 staff in China and recently opened a new office in South China which will have demonstration machines, spare parts warehousing and distribution for the entire Southern China region.”

“This new office here in Shanghai will be used as ANCA’s ‘technical centre of excellence’ providing technical support, spare parts warehousing and distribution, technical demonstrations and customer run-offs. We have plans to expand into machine tool rebuilding, spindle overhauls, customised machine configuration, customer focused applications training and software development.”

“I would also like to thank my team here in China. They have all worked extremely hard over the last fifteen years to ensure ANCA’s success in the Chinese market,” Jeff concluded.

Speaking at the USA office opening, Russell Riddiford, President ANCA USA said, “Today we have customers here from all the markets this facility supports, from Brazil, Mexico, Canada and of course the United States. The expansion amplifies our commitment to these regions and we thank you very much for taking the time to celebrate this investment as we strive to be number one in customer life time experience.”

“The first machine in the US was purchased by Mike and Mia Shaluly of Mastercut Tools Florida. Remembering this is timely as Mastercut also purchased the first TX7 Linear to be delivered earlier this year.”

“Today we have increased the building by 14,000 to be 41,000 sq ft. to include larger customer training facilities, a demonstration room and spindle rebuild area which has doubled in size and an electronic repair area.”

“I always say that at ANCA our people are our point of difference and in the Americas, we are 54 people strong and continue to train and invest in people to meet the needs of our customers. We are proud of our apprenticeship program based at ANCA Australia, which is a personal investment and commitment of one of the Founding Owners, Pat McCluskey to provide our company and the industry with the next group of engineers.”

“Pat McCluskey is not here today, he remains at the factory working on our next new market release which I expect will be another first to the industry from ANCA. Pat asked me to thank you, our customer, for your continued investment in ANCA.”

“From ANCA – the company first to the tool grinding market, the touch probe, MPG Feed, CIMulation3D, menu driven software and many more – we continue to work on the next market-first, bringing tomorrow’s technology to you today. We couldn’t do this without your continued investment in ANCA. On behalf of the owners and employees of ANCA, I thank you and please enjoy your visit over the next couple of days at ANCA and the great city of Wixom.”
