CIM3D v8.1 is a maintenance release of CIM3D V 8.0 which includes several new features and enhancements. This release will be a free upgrade for existing customers with CIM3D v8.0. There are several significant enhancements which will require ToolRoom 2016 to be installed for these features to be displayed. The release is backwards compatible with previous versions but forward compatibility is not supported.
COOLANT HOLE EDITOR
CIM3D 2014 can now simulate coolant holes. Blank editor is now used to define helical, straight and branched coolant holes. This will be displayed in the CIM3D blank during simulation.
COOLANT HOLE HIGHLIGHTING
The new coolant hole colour mapping displays each coolant hole with a colour. The colour depends on the index of the coolant holes. Each coolant hole has an associated label which is available in the colour legend dialog.
COOLANT HOLE ANALYSIS IN CIM3D TO SUPPORT TOOLROOM
Tools are available in CIM3D for automatic detection of coolant hole breaches which are colour coded for easy viewing. There is also an analysis tool that can detect minimum wall thickness with tolerance.
IMPROVED WHEEL MODELS
CIM3D has improved wheel models which display core and grit sections of the wheels separately. The definition of the wheel is received from the wheel editor in ToolRoom 2016.
With the new wheel models, the hollow regions in cup wheels are accurately modelled and grinding moves are simulated correctly.

NEW MACHINE MODELS
The following accessory models have been added to FX Linear machines for collision detection and visual analysis of grinding.
- Overhead top clamp when using the MicroPlus for FX Linearmachines. Collision with the finger and pad is identified correctly.
- Auto pop up steady
- LaserPlus, iView, and mount bracket
SEND TO TOOLDRAFT
CIM3D v8.1 has an option to send the current tool to ToolDraft, and if ToolDraft is not already running it will be started. The tool can be imported into a new file, a template or to the current drawing.
FEATURE COLOUR MAPPING
New feature colour mapping allows you to separate operations in features. Each feature is displayed as a different colour on the tool and is set as default in both CIM3D and i3dg.
