| The V-block Clamp and Steady is a complete tool guidance and support system for precision tool manufacture. As the name suggests the unit consists of two distinct items – a V-block Clamp and a Steady – each with separate functionality.
The V-block clamp uses an overhead clamp finger to hold the shank of the tool in a V-shaped support. This rigid support guides the shank of the tool using the V-block principle, reducing runout usually present when using only a collet. The steady is the perfect complement to the V-block clamp offering additional support to the tool. To assist in setting up the V-block Clamp and Steady, both units are equipped with fine adjusting mechanisms ensuring complete degrees of freedom and accuracy. When set up correctly the Precision V-block Clamp and Steady system will achieve a consistent tool runout of less then 0.004 mm (measured at 50 mm from collet nose) in either manual or automatic loading. |
